Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, I am in-network with the following insurance companies:

Aetna

BCBS

Cigna

Florida Blue

Optum

Oscar Health

Oxford

United Healthcare

What if I don't have insurance, or you're not in-network with my insurance?

I offer a self-pay rate of $150 per session for individual sessions. I can also provide a Super Bill for your sessions.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes! I offer a 15-minute phone consultation to learn a bit about you and your mental health concerns that is free of charge. This consultation allows me to assess if we are a good fit before we move on to scheduling your intake session.

I've never been to therapy and I'm nervous. What can I expect from the first session?

I understand that starting therapy can be a bit daunting, but your first session is designed to be as comfortable and welcoming as possible. During this initial intake session, we’ll cover a few key areas:

1. Mental Health History: We’ll discuss your past experiences with therapy, current symptoms, and significant life events. This helps me understand your unique situation and how I can best support you.

2. Confidentiality: I’ll explain how your information is kept private, and the specific situations where confidentiality might be legally limited.

3. Building Trust: This session is about getting to know each other and starting to build a trusting relationship. You can ask questions and share at your own pace.

It’s normal to feel nervous, but this first step is a positive move towards your well-being. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel comfortable and supported.

Do you offer virtual and in person visits?

At the moment, I'm providing services via Telehealth only. I use a HIPPA compliant Telehealth platform that you will have access to for our sessions.

How long will I need therapy for?

Therapy is an individualized process for everyone, including the length of treatment. Some individuals benefit from brief forms of therapy, while other individuals appreciate and require lengthier treatment. This is something we will discuss in our intake session after I assess your treatment needs/goals.

I'm really struggling with how I'm feeling. Will I feel like this forever?

It’s normal to feel overwhelmed, and it might seem like these feelings will last forever. The good news is that with the right support, you can find relief. Therapy can help you develop tools to manage emotions and improve your well-being over time. You don’t have to go through this alone.

Recommended Reading

Books, or bibliotherapy in "therapist jargon", has been a cornerstone in my personal life that has helped me become educated on different mental health and personal growth topics. I love to encourage my clients to read and educate themselves, as well. Here is a list of some of my favorite books, with a bit of info on who may benefit from reading them:

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle - ideal for those seeking mindfulness, stress reduction, spiritual growth, personal development, practical advice on detaching from negativity, and inner peace.

The Body Keeps Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk - explains how trauma affects both the mind and body. It highlights the lasting impact of traumatic experiences and offers healing approaches like EMDR and yoga to help people recover.

Grit by Angela Duckhorn - anyone striving for success and personal achievement, particularly those interested in understanding the importance of perseverance and passion in achieving long-term goals, can benefit from this book.

Attached: The New Science of Adult Attachment by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller - if you're looking to understand and improve your relationship dynamics through the lens of the attachment theory, you'll gain a lot of insight from this book.

The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday - this is a great book for anyone seeking practical wisdom and inspiration to overcome obstacles and achieve success in life. If you're into Stoicism, this is a great read!

The Good Life by Robert Waldinger, MD and Marc Schulz, PhD - if you're interested in discovering the keys to happiness and fulfillment, backed by scientific research and real-life stories, you'll benefit from reading this book.

Codependent No More by Melody Beattie - for those struggling with codependent behaviors and seeking guidance on fostering healthier relationships and self-care.
