EMDR Intensives: Deep healing in less time

What are EMDR Intensives?

EMDR intensives are condensed, focused therapy sessions designed to help clients make significant progress in a short period of time. Unlike traditional weekly therapy, intensives allow for longer sessions that dive deeper into specific issues or trauma, enabling clients to achieve results faster. This format is especially beneficial for those with busy schedules, those who want to address trauma without the slower pace of traditional therapy, or those who feel “stuck” and need a breakthrough. Our EMDR intensives allow clients to experience significant progress in a shorter time frame, perfect for individuals seeking accelerated healing. We offer a range of intensive options, tailored to meet your specific needs and availability.

How do EMDR intensives work?

During an EMDR intensive, you will work closely with your therapist for extended sessions, typically 2 to 4 hours per day, allowing for deep exploration of memories, emotions, and beliefs. In these longer sessions, there is more time to complete the full 8-phase EMDR process, leading to more immediate shifts in emotional well-being and symptom relief.

Benefits of EMDR Intensives

Faster Results: Condensed sessions allow you to work through more in each sitting, often reducing the number of sessions required.

Deep Focus: Longer sessions provide more time to process and reprocess difficult memories, leading to more thorough healing.

Flexibility: Perfect for those with busy schedules or those coming in from out of town.

Healing from Trauma: Especially helpful for clients who have experienced complex trauma, PTSD, or feel stuck in their healing process.

What to expect in an EMDR Intensive

In each intensive, we’ll start with a thorough assessment, followed by EMDR preparation, identifying resources, and focusing on specific memories or issues. This structure allows you to focus deeply without the interruptions or time limits of standard therapy sessions.

EMDR intensives can be powerful, but the experience is unique to each client. Sometimes, progress occurs rapidly, with deep insights and healing experienced immediately; other times, it may develop more gradually. Both experiences are perfectly acceptable, and there is no right or wrong way to proceed. As we work together, we may uncover unexpected themes that require attention and have collaborative conversations to focus our time effectively when this happens. While I cannot guarantee specific outcomes, I have confidence in my approach, having witnessed many clients leave with significant shifts in their mood and presenting symptoms.
